Whilst at the University of Cape Town, Peter was Vice President of SRC and serves as executive member of NUSAS for 2 consecutive years.He was also member of the Committee of Defence Aid, in Cape Town, where he organised and ran many political trials.
After admission as an Attorney, Notary & Conveyancer in January of 1964, he left for Europe, where, for a period of 18 years, he worked for a leading firm of London Solicitors, and subsequently, for metal traders in London, Luxembourg & Brussels.
After his return to South Africa, Peter has served as City Councillor on the Executive Board of the Johannesburg City Council and has completed a 5 year term as member of Gauteng Legislature, where he was the official Opposition (DA) Spokesperson on Local Government and involved in drafting of the new suite of Acts governing Local Government in South Africa.
As an Attorney, Peter Horwitz has extensive expertise of Intellectual Property, Security documentation for banks, factoring, purchasing of shares in private companies and closed corporations, insolvency enquiries and sequestrations, notarial trust deeds, disputes within and against unincorporated associations, drafting of special articles of association, contracts of all kinds, debentures and debenture trust deeds, distribution agreements, film production agreements, advice on major insurance claims, joint venture agreements, lease agreements, negotiating and drafting of notarial bonds, section 311 schemes, shareholder agreements, suretyship agreements, commercial and Company Litigation and complaints to the Competition Commission and Tribunal.
Peter speaks and reads French, and has experience of the French Legal System, gained whilst living in Europe. He has attracted major French Companies as clients.
